My partner and I wanted to basically elope in our own way, and exchange rings we chose for ourselves to wear as a symbol of our love and comittment. We've not had our weekend away to do so just yet, but after a long, long search I came across Manly Bands and what finally seemed to be awesome, "different" rings, out of the US at a decent price. I'd found other such online stores, but after some digging found unhappy people with rings failing to meet expectations, falling apart, and basically not being worth the sometimes high price. Given I'm a garage dwelling, DIY guy, I know I give any jewellery I wear a hard time, so wanted to both not spend a fortune, nor have something overly delicate. I wanted a ring that both stood out, meant something to me, and basically combined elements that represent both our relationship, and my own lifestyle.
I noticed the "Journeyman" ring early on, but had different ideas in mind of more "metal" rings. More "traditional" metal wedding band styles. Thing is this ring just kept grabbling my attention, so I ended up deciding this was the one. A few weeks after purchase ( as I live in Australia ), the ring arrived, and well, as a metal fabricator type guy, this ring is AWESOME. Well made, good looking, and I know I'm going to get asked about it. Not too showy, but also far from a "standard", one metal band. Nothing wrong with that if that's your bag, but I wanted a bit of flash, a bit different, and for the elements to mean something to me.
